To be able to make a living doing something in nature, being creative in someway, always seemed like a good idea to me. I never really knew what I wanted to ‘do’ though, until I saw that first glowing ball of glass, under the magical circle of light that was the total solar eclipse. It was 2001, at the Solipse festival in the bush in Zambia, where I struck up a friendship with Donna Eicholz, after spying her working the glass over a flame from her portable caravan studio next to the dance floor. I was mesmerised and spent many hours just watching this amazing process unfold. My life took a new direction. Finally, in 2003 when in Australia, I took a beginners bead making class. To my amazement, all it involved was an hour or two of instruction, and then we were let loose with a few rods of glass to create as we pleased. I enjoyed myself so much,I arranged to come in to just make beads for another day. Within a month, I had all the equipment I needed, a colourful selection of glass, and Corinna Tettingers step-by-step book of glass bead making. With that in hand, i was ready to start. Gradually, by trial and error, I've developed an understanding of the nature of glass and continue to learn and be amazed by it's qualities and the pleasure of working with it.

About Malawi
My home is on the shores of Lake Malawi, in East Africa. This is where I make my beads, and let the creativity flow!
Nature also inspires creativity, for me that is a fact. It is very evident that when i find myself in places of great natural beauty, my ability to create, and the joy in the process is much greater. Therefore i find myself very fortunate to have the privilege to live and grow up in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Malawi is mainly known for the friendliness of the local population, earning it the name 'the warm heart of africa' . Malawi is also one of the poorest countries in the world, suffering from the usual third world afflictions. despite that, people always have time and a smile for each other Malawi is also known for it's lake, a stunning expanse of fresh azure blue water and sandy beaches. It is on one of these sandy beaches that i live, enclosed by a forested mountainside, facing the sunset. Starting the day in a place like this, amongst the people i love, gives enough fuel for getting creative in the best way i can!
